In With The New...

...And out with the old! That's how the saying goes, right? ;)

Steve Madden pumps (old, similar) / Coach 'Teddie' pumps (also here)

Lately when I've reached into my closet in need of a pair of black pumps, my trusty old Steve Madden's just weren't doing it for me anymore.

Looking through my Pinterest gave me that lightbulb moment- a moment when I finally realize what it is I like about a certain look/style. Just to double-check this realization, my 'Inspiration' posts typically back up these lightbulb moments, particularly this post. It was time for a wardrobe upgrade in terms of pointed-toe pumps!

Although I transitioned from suede to leather, it wasn't the material that was bothering me. I realized the pointed-toe fits my style, and I simply cannot imagine myself wearing the rounded toe anymore. Besides style, there are visible reasons for the replacement- the suede has clearly been through some wear and tear, and was starting to rub off and fade in certain areas. Maybe I'm just easily convinced, but I thought these were appropriate reasons to splurge on a new pair of pumps ;)

Questions to ask yourself when in the process of "upgrading" wardrobe pieces:
  • Evaluate why you are no longer wearing a piece. If you think you might wear it a few years from now, or it only has nostalgic value, it may be time to replace it with a more wearable version.
  • What characteristic did you like about the old piece that you'd want to carry over onto the new piece?
  • Does the new piece match your current style? Try it out with a few outfits to be 100% sure!

What do you think of this wardrobe upgrade? Are there any pieces in your wardrobe that you're guilty of holding onto as well?

I hope this post was helpful! If you have any other suggestions to add, I'd love to hear them :)
