Layers Can Be Worn Separately, Too

Banana Republic Factory vest / Gap jeans (my all-time favorite pair!) / BP 'Moveover' flats (no longer available in snakeskin, but the other colors/prints are just as cute) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Guess sunglasses (similar) / Gifted necklace / Catbird NYC rings

Hello hello! Today's outfit happened totally by accident- I was initially going to wear this vest over a silk blouse, but a) it was too hot for more than one layer and b) I was pleasantly surprised by how chic this vest looks on its own. Here's a previous post where I styled it layered over a button-down.

Although I'm such a sucker for button-downs, I think this vest has one of my favorite elements usually found in those kinds of shirts, i.e. a collar. The collar adds a crisp and sophisticated element, and contrasts nicely with the soft, drapey material of the vest. And then the zippered pockets add an edgy element, so this vest happens to combine a few of my favorite things. ;)

Which look do you like better, the vest worn solo or worn layered over a shirt, like so? I'd love to hear what you think in the comments section! :)

Thank you so much for reading, and enjoy your week! Xoxo
