Preppy With a Side of Tomboy

Banana Republic shirt- size 0 / Halogen vest- size S (regular sizes on sale!) / Gap jeans (similar) / Aldo flats (similarlove these) / Michael Kors watch (different color) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag

Hello my loves! Sorry for the slight hiatus in outfit posts...going a week without posting an outfit definitely felt weird! Also, I apologize for the overabundance of greenery in this post- I'm surrounded by trees and green fields for miles around me, unless I want to trek into DC. ;P

So I've been keeping my eyes open for the perfect sweater vest to try wearing as a beginner to this whole tomboy-chic thing. This vest from Halogen fit the bill, as it was not pricey, and has a simple weave/neutral color which will match many outfits. I've realized that grey is slowing becoming one of my favorite colors, and I'm not mad about it. I also have my eye on this Banana Republic sweater vest, for the fun aspect of being able to zip it up!

After I put on this outfit, I looked in the mirror and felt like I was peering back at a prep-school student. The layered look of a vest over a button-down is majorly preppy, but tomboy at the same time... I'm absolutely sold! I'm so excited to be figuring out what I like and don't like for my personal outfits, and this preppy/tomboy look is definitely one that I adore. ;)

This outfit would also look awesome with a pair of black or grey pointy toe heels, if that's your thing.

What do you think of this layered look? Oh, and are you loving windowpane as much as I have been lately?

Thank you so much for reading! Xoxo

  1. Love how polished you look in this! I'm the same with being surrounded by trees, but at least yours are green right now! Mine are still all dead lol.

    1. Thank you so much, Amanda! I love how a button-down makes any outfit instantly look more polished. And it's hard to escape the greenery in the suburbs near me, but they definitely make for a beautiful spring/summertime :)
